God's Plan

What I believe+

The Catechism opens by stating that God, infinitely perfect and blessed in Himself, in a plan of sheer goodness, freely created man to make him share in His own blessed life. (CCC 1)

Scriptural Foundation+

Ephesians 1:4-5 tells us, "He chose us in him before the foundation of the world... he destined us in love to be his sons through Jesus Christ."

How it is enacted in Liturgy+

This plan is not just a theory; it is realized in the Liturgy. Through Baptism (CCC 1213), we are grafted into this plan, and through Confirmation (CCC 1285), we are strengthened to witness to it.

How to live it+

Knowing this plan changes everything: we are not accidents of evolution but beloved children. We are called to treat every human person as a part of this divine design.

Impact on me+

The Lord's Prayer summarizes this plan perfectly when we say "Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will be done." (CCC 2804 & 2818) Prayer is the living relationship of the children of God with their Father.

The Eucharist

What I believe+

I believe that the Eucharist is the "source and summit" of the Christian life. It is not a symbol, but the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ explicitly present. (CCC 1324)

Scriptural Foundation+

In John 6:53, Jesus is explicit: "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you."

How it is enacted in Liturgy+

(CCC 1322-1419) It is the memorial of Christ's Passover, made present in the Liturgy of the Mass. It is a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the Father, a blessing by which the Church expresses her gratitude.

How to live it+

The Eucharist commits us to the poor. To receive in truth the Body and Blood of Christ given up for us, we must recognize Christ in the poorest of his brethren. (CCC 1397)

Impact on me+

The Eucharist is the real presence of Christ (CCC 1378) that leads me to Adoration. In the silence of the Eucharist, we learn the depths of God's love that words cannot express.
